The human reviews yesterday’s work, identifies today’s goals, and begins. The AI picks up exactly where the previous session left off.
Midday: The Flow State
A feature needs implementation. The process:
Describe intent: “Create a TopologyMonitor class that detects condensation in the solidarity network using percolation theory thresholds.”
AI generates: A skeleton implementation with the right structure, type hints, docstrings.
Human reviews: Does this match the theory? Are the threshold values correct? Is the interface right?
TDD verification: Write tests for expected behavior. Run them. Red.
Iterate: Adjust implementation until tests pass. Green.
Refactor: Clean up while tests stay green.
This cycle repeats. Sometimes the AI gets it right on the first try. Sometimes it takes three iterations. Either way, it’s faster than writing from scratch.
Evening: Documentation and Commit
Before stopping, documentation:
Update state.yaml with what was accomplished
Add any new ADRs for architectural decisions
Note deferred ideas that came up during the day
Then commit. Pre-commit hooks run:
Ruff: passes
MyPy: passes
Pytest: 987 tests pass
Commitizen: message valid
The commit goes through. Progress is preserved. Tomorrow’s session will find clean state.
The Compound Effect
